Once pupils have mastered the mechanics of reading through our phonics programme, our focus shifts to developing their comprehension skills. Since the skills and knowledge required for comprehension are similar across different ages, we employ a whole-class, mastery approach to teaching reading from Year 2 through to Year 6.
To support this, we use a program called Master Readers. This programme is designed to enhance pupils' reading abilities throughout the week, providing daily opportunities for them to become proficient and engaged readers.
