Whitelands Park Primary School Better never stops

Attendance

As a parent, you have a legal responsibility to ensure your child’s attendance at school. After 8:50am, when the playground gates have closed, children must enter school via the office. However, this will constitute as a late mark and consequently be recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Reporting Absence
If your child is unable to attend school please phone the school office on the morning of absence (press option 1 and leave a message, stating the child’s name, class teacher, year and reason why they won’t be at school). Children with persistently low attendance will be referred to the Education Welfare Officer at West Berkshire Council who may take this matter further and issue a fixed penalty notice.

Dental/Medical Appointments
If at all possible, any dental/medical appointments should be made after school hours or during school holidays. If this is not possible, please let us know of the appointments as soon as you can.

Taking Holidays During Term Time
Ideally, holidays should be taken during the school holiday period. The Headteacher is unable to authorise any Planned Leave of Absence, except in special circumstances and a fine may be incurred. Note: We do not advise any term time absence as it can have a detrimental effect on your child’s education. If you are taking your child out of school please complete the Leave of Absence form (available from the school office) and return it  to school.
