Welcome Message:

Welcome to Year 1! We hope you are enjoying Year 1 as much as we are! We are looking forward to learning all about different celebrations.

 

Our Topic: 

Who am I?

 

Children will have the opportunity to express their individuality, explore their identity, develop their talents and understand their place in the world. Key questions that will be explored include: Who Am I? Where did my name come from? What am I Like? What I might be good at? What is special about me and where I live?

 

Let’s Celebrate!

 

This unit focuses on the traditions surrounding Christmas and other festivals taking place at this time of year. Pupils will make cards and decorations and look at how festivals were celebrated in the past.

PE Sessions :

Outdoor PE  - Friday

Indoor PE - Monday

 

Earrings may not be worn for PE, so please make sure you can take them out yourself, or that you leave them at home on PE days.

 

Library - Wednesday. Please ensure your child has their library book in school on a Wednesday so that it can be changed.

 

Phonics:

In Foundation and KS1 we follow the Read Write Inc Programme. The Read Write Inc. Phonics is a complete literacy programme, for 3 to 7 year-olds learning to read and write.
