Whitelands Park Primary School Better never stops

Friends of Whitelands

What is Friends of Whitelands?

As a parent or carer of children at Whitelands Park School you are now welcome as a member of Friends of Whitelands! Friends of Whitelands is Whitelands School’s parent and teachers association which throughout the year organises various social, formal and informal events. Our events are fun, entertaining, family friendly and raise money for the school!

Our main events each year include:

  • The annual Summer Fete
  • Children’s Discos
  • Parents Quiz Nights
  • Christmas Fairs
  • Seasonal/Themed Crafts
  • Tea Towel
  • Movie Nights
  • Non-Uniform Days

How do we do it?

The Friends of Whitelands Committee meet (see dates of meetings), during term time at Whitelands Park School. The meetings are essential for us to get together and discuss current and forthcoming events. We discuss events, monitor how much money has been raised, and liaise with the school as to how that money is to be spent. Once a year, in the Autumn Term, we hold our annual general meeting. We actively encourage new parents who are interested to come along when as will elect and nominate new members.

Where does the money go?

All money raised by Friends of Whitelands goes to the school and as a result of recent fund raising efforts has paid for wonderful opportunities and equipment for the children to enjoy. Last year we spent the money that was raised, on the the school Library and a PA System. Next year, with the money we have just donated to the school, we plan to create a 'Green Area' in the courtyard. The money raised plays a significant role in the education of our children as it enriches and encourages them in their learning experiences.

How can you help?

Our thanks go to everyone who has contributed to our events in the past - we know how precious your time is and we thank all those families who have come and supported our fund raising events – without your generous support the school’s extra needs wouldn’t be achieved.

There are many ways in which parents and teachers can get involved. Some ideas of involvement include:

  • Attending the monthly meetings (occasionally or regularly)
  • Putting forward new ideas to the committee
  • Participating in organising an event
  • Helping at an event
  • Donating uniform to sell at the second hand stall
  • Becoming a class representative (At least one parent per class)
